"Worst door i have ever seen"
I ordered an insulated wood look steel 8 x10 door from Home Depot, upgraded paint and hardware to medalion.
After I installed it I can honestly say this is the worst garage door I have ever seen. The panels are 2ft and the rails are short radius, this makes it hard to open and close. Also, there is no spring on the wall with a roller to help lift it. It has some wires on top the rails that are never going to adjust right. I have never had a door with this type of mechanism. I would have never got this door if I had known about this. Totally dissatisfied with this door..

"Much Better Than I Expected!"
I replaced my regular garage door with a Clopay WindCode door primarily because I live in Florida and worry about hurricanes. I also chose to add Intellicore insulation. I am so very happy I did! I can't believe what a difference this insulation makes in the temperature of my garage in the morning when the sun hits the door.
The door and accompanying hardware are high quality and sturdy. So much quieter than the previous door. I feel much safer now plus I'm sure I'll save $ on my electric bill. I'm very happy with this purchase!

I have been so excited when I ordered this door and can't wait for the call that it is here for installation. I decided to replace the garage door opener as well to make it all new with the right HP to pull it up and down. It was done in 3 hours as what the Cactus Garage Door installer had said from removing the old and replacing it with the new one. It was so beautiful and it well matches the front door that I have. The decorative artistic wrought iron design on the top is very attractive and the color brown that I had picked matched well.

"Bought 3 Gallery Steel Doors"
We purchased 3 Clopay Gallery Steel Garage doors from a reputable dealer in our area. So far, we have installed 2 out of the 3 doors ourselves. We were disappointed upon taking the panels out of their boxes to find dents on the interior side of some of the panels and when going to screw the brackets into the side metal frame of each panel several of the pre-drilled screw holes didn't line up with the holes in the metal frame. Also, on one door one panel didn't line up with the others as it should. We probably had the option to request new panels, especially the one with a deep dent/gouge, but it was the 3rd panel from the bottom and would have required taken apart what was done at that point and having to wait however long to get a replacement panel. We chose to just advise our dealer, so he could inform their Clopay Sales Rep. We haven't heard what could be done about this, other than probably having to return the panels for a new ones. It is frustrating to pay thousands of dollars for a product to find it has these issues. Seems like the quality control/inspection dept. where the doors were made isn't doing their job. I don't feel this damage was done during the transport of the doors.

I had purchased clopay garage doors 28 years earlier and the instructions for those doors was much better then along with numerous photos to help understand the necessary steps! We really wish the instructions provided would have been much clearer with more photos for assistance in the assembly process!

Great door. Quiet, secure, sturdy. Minir gripe: tgere is a horizontal grain pattern repeat approx. every two feet. They avoid direct vertical repeat by placing it on a bias. Most would not notice, but I work wood when I can. They do, however, nail grain direction very well.

My garage used to be nearly as cold or as hot as the outside. It was 17° here this morning and my garage was 45°. Things used to freeze in my garage, not anymore. I would purchase these doors again and would recommend them to anyone looking to update or install new garage doors. I have an attached garage, you can’t even hear them opening from inside the house which is wonderful considering I could be at the farthest point away from them before and know that they were opening. We are very happy with our new garage doors. They match our house perfectly. I have noticed that the temperature in my garage, when it was 32 degrees outside, was 10 degrees warmer according to the thermometer. We have had the doors for a few weeks and they appear to be of good quality. We expect many years of excellent service and curb appeal from our Clopay doors!

After 3 months of waiting and a nice chunk of $$, I get my new door with wrong windows. Of course it's the "suppliers" fault. Wanted insulated double pane obscure glass , receive clear single pane uninsulated windows.Installer missed the fact I wanted obscure glass and it's my fault I didn't catch their mistake.New window section has to be ordered to get the insulated glass but since I did't catch the error I need to pay more for the obscure glass.You would think they would correct their error and not charge more money for the inconvenience alone.

I am very sorry about the issues that you have experienced with your Clopay product. When an order is sent into Clopay, it is processed as the dealer or retailer sends it, so if the order was sent to Clopay with the single pane glass as the option, this is the only way we would know to process it. Unfortunately, since we do not deal with any pricing, Clopay would not know if you as the end consumer originally paid for single pane or double pane glass which is why all pricing discrepancies would be handled by the Clopay dealer or retailer that you purchased your door through. Per the post submitted, it does look like the dealer is ordering you a new section to get the glass situation rectified. The front face of the decorative inserts on our doors will match the exterior door color, however, the back side of the inserts will be white.

The door is very ascteticaly pleasing. Construction of doors and hardware seems sound, only provides one strut for a 16 foot insulated door, seems meek, so had to purchase 2nd one seperate for $25.00, does not include the operator reinforcement bracket for automatic door $17.00 additional, had to purchase separately. The trim for the windows for this door seem flimsey and probably won't stand up to wind and inclement weather, the grids just kinda lay in the frame on outside of window not set too firmly. The accents included were faux handles with no faux hinges...bought seperately...total cost of door minus install was $1900.00

We selected this door primarily for its R-value rating of 18.4. Our garage door faces more or less west and gets the full afternoon sun. The garage used to heat up rapidly in the sun with the 35 year old steel door that was only insulated with an aftermarket pad. The installer did a great job when he installed the weatherstrip that comes with the door and adjusted the door so it sels on the left, top and right sides. The door uses a very generously sized weatherstrip on the lower edge. This door is well air sealed.
The outer and inner steel skins are thermally isolated from each other. That helps greatly with the insulation. The inner skin of the door remains cool to the touch even with the hot summer sun beating on the exterior. It is slightly warmer where one door panel abuts the panel above or below. This is a huge improvement over the old door.
Both the inside and outside steel door panels have a superb finish coating. The only thing I wish we had done differently would be to have bought this door years ago. I am looking forward to winter as I know the garage will be much warmer then.

Issue 1) Out of the 8 panels received for two garage doors, one was damaged and could not be used. We waited 4-6 weeks for the new panel which again arrived damaged as well. Ended up installing the damaged panel after swapping it with the top panel so it wouldn't interfere with other panels.
Issue 2) Panels not trimmed accurately. I had to trim off insulation protruding from panel ends.
Issue 3) Panel metal fronts and backs not accurately lined up resulting in parallelogram rather than rectangular top down alignment.

Cloplay, customer service was great ordered 2 7x9 garage doors carriage style with windows. The look and quality was what i expected. One of the doors was found to have broken glass, but home depot and cloplay worked together to get me a new upper section with glass
It had arrived broken as well but the glass the was broken on the opposite side. So i switched the window assembly and finished my install. I added garage door oppeners and all is working great. My Wife and i are happy with our purchase. Thank you for working with us cloplay.

We are extremely pleased with the new track with quiet rubber rollers that came with the door, a marked improvement from what was replaced. The door color and clear double pane windows are handsome and have clean lines that improve the garage appearance and modernize the look. In addition to the smooth door operation, we now have much more natural light in the garage space.

Love this custom door worth the money and wait. Highly recommend.

Love our new garage doors. We got the Walnut wood finish - they really look like wood from the street and are really beautiful. Windows let in lots of light. Very pleased with the installation. Our garage is detached from the house, so we really weren't overly concerned with the R-Value and went with the lowest to save some dollars. Very happy with these doors and wood recommend if you are trying to get that wood look without the maintenance.

Why does the Gallery Ultra Grain Oak Slate Finish have a stucco texture, instead of a a wood texture? Why doesn't all your brochures mention anything about the texture? It's very misleading when you pay extra for the wood grain paint, and you get a stucco texture.

Our Ultra-Grain Paint finishes are paired with the emboss that best complements the particular grain pattern. Our Ultra-Grain Gallery Doors have a bi-directional grain pattern in the paint, which feedback indicated looks best on the stucco emboss. We performed multiple trials and received designer feedback to come to this decision.

We bought the insulated doors to keep out the Minnesota winters and love everything about them...the color is a nice brown and has wood grain that follows the door pieces as if it was real wood. I also like the no maintenance...we just replaced a real wood door that was coming apart after only 8 years.

We are so pleased with the Clopay garage door we had installed. It is such an improvement over our previous old wooden door. We purchased this door to replace a garage door that was in place since the mid 80’s. We were replacing siding on the house and mentioned how the rooms above the garage would get cold. The siding installer mentioned the garage door as a possible culprit. We ended up purchasing the insulated gallery collection door and, so far, the rooms above the garage are not hot in the summer and haven’t been cold on the chilly fall nights. The door looks amazing from the outside. The upgraded hardware make for quiet and smooth opening and closing. Overall, I’m very pleased with my new garage door.

I love the new garage doors. They look great. We get many compliments on them. We have had to have the cables replaced, within 2 months because it got really noisy when closing. The door was too heavy for the spring that came with the door. Clopay stated the door weight 325 and it was closer to 400. Had to buy different springs an additional $500 dollar. Not happy about that but the door it’s self nice and good quality. I give it three stars.

Even though it is beautiful, my garage is freezing cold, when you touch the door on the inside, it really cold. When first installed just last fall it was whisper quite. As soon as the weather got cold in STL it is crazy noisy.

Here at Clopay we take great pride in our product and want to see our customers happy with the doors that they have purchased. Many times the noise can be reduced by lubricating the hardware on the door, which is part of the annual maintenance that should be done at least every 6 months. We have a great video on our website showing how to lubricate the hardware and what should be lubricated which I will attach the link to here https://vimeo.com/106435186 . Having an insulated door is a great addition to any garage, but it will only work to its full potential if the garage itself is well insulated to assist with the highly insulated door.

What a difference this new door made. My house is old and I wanted something that closely matched the old door that was installed in 1940, plus I finally installed an automatic opener. I love everything about this door except for the window pane inserts. They're flimsy plastic and fortunately I was able to just pop them out. Now the glass can be easily cleaned, the door looks just as good, and I'm happy. (The photo shows the door before I removed the inserts.)

We purchased a Gallery collection door and we're extremely happy with the look and feel of the door. Fantastic upgrade from the original the had no insulation and was noisy. This one is so quiet and with the 2" polystyrene I noticed the temperature in the garage has improved.
We've received many compliments on the door and it really made a tremendous visual impact to the look of my house. I expected the door to be nice, but I didn't expect it to make such a nice difference and I highly recommend this Clopay door to anyone looking to upgrade.

If your looking for a grayish door this is not the door for you it has a green hue, very disappointed. one of my doors the windows are not straight in line with one another waiting to hear back from the installer. wish the color was more like a true slate color. Thanks for your feedback. I understand that everyone has a personal preference on colors. That said, your feedback touched on a few points others could use to help them select the right door and color.
1) The steel we provide for color samples is from the same steel coil that is on the door, so they are the same.
2) However, one color can look very different in different light sources. The process is called “Metamerism” and the khaki tones are very susceptible to this.
Therefore, I’d suggest that anyone interested in this color, get a color chip and view it outside where the door will be so you can get an accurate view of the color. Again, thanks for the feedback as it should help others verify their decision.

I regret that I can't post a reasonable review on their customer service and finish representation (both on-line and in-store). I purchased two, black panel doors for my home, hoping for a modern and clean finish. I assessed the finish on-line and at the store. When delivered and installed the finish did not appear to be what I was shown. I have been working with Home Depot for months to have this addressed. Home Depot's personnel have been nothing but wonderful in trying to help come up with a reasonable compromise. Clopay has been inflexible, not helpful, and will not listen to the voice of customer. I will not buy a product again from Clopay!

The texture you described emulates a rough sawn finish that is present in many wood doors. That texture is used in our woodgrain emboss equipment in our factory in Troy, OH. While any design aesthetic is subject to personal taste, this design was purposefully done to best emulate the look of a wood door. That pattern allows the door to look more “architecturally accurate” relative to historical building materials, in this case a rough sawn wood door.

For what I paid for the door expected better crafismanship! The door over all looks nice however the cheapness of the window grids detracts for the quality...grids an after thought. Grids should have been inserted into the glass, as stated a cheap design and apperance. Just had the door installed today, hoping no major issues.

The door has completely lived up to our expectations. We changed out our windowless insulated steel door with a Clopay windowed, super (R18) insulated, door.
With the windows, our garage is much brighter inside now, especially on sunny winter days as our house face south. The sun coming through the windows in the winter helps warm the cars on cold sunny days. In our Minnesota winters the garage is staying 5 - 10 degrees warmer than with the old door. It stays around 40 degrees inside the garage when it's below zero outside--without a heater. Our garage is about 50% tuck under.
If you keep your garage closed, like us, in the summer the super insulated door contains the heat of the cars and keeps the garage quite warm.
We installed the door ourselves using the video provided, along with the instruction manual. We completed removal and installation in one day. The top windowed panel is very heavy so we needed the assistance of a young, strong, neighbor to help lift it into place. Other than that, my wife and I did the installation ourselves.
We are very please with the door and it has really enhanced the appearance of our house.

If you keep your garage closed, like us, in the summer the super insulated door contains the heat of the cars and keeps the garage quite warm.
We installed the door ourselves using the video provided, along with the instruction manual. We completed removal and installation in one day. The top windowed panel is very heavy so we needed the assistance of a young, strong, neighbor to help lift it into place. Other than that, my wife and I did the installation ourselves.
We are very please with the door and it has really enhanced the appearance of our house.

The door is fine but the torsion springs are extremely noisy. Googled a remedy and apparently this is a known issue. The remedy that we found was to spray the springs with lithium grease but sadly this only lasts for 2-3 days and then we have to reapply. Not only expensive but also potentially messy for vehicles passing under the springs. Really wish that there was a permanent remedy for fix this issue.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a noise issue with your springs. Clopay recommends that all moving parts of our doors be lubricated every 3-4 months, including the coils of the springs. Clopay makes a product called Clopay Pro Lube that is sold through The Home Depot. I would recommend giving this product a try to see if it helps with the noise from the springs. I have 5 wood colored Gallery garage doors total. Three on the house, and two on the detached garage. All were a new construction professional install, 12/2014. In the last 2.5 years, both the detached garage doors have been replaced two times because of delamination issues. Now on the third set and adfter a few months, no issues yet. I have been working through the professional installer so far, but it takes 2-3 months to receive the replacements. I do not know how long the replacements will last. We just hope the manufacturer's warranty starts over with every install and that Clopay doesn't discontinue the door color/style!
